Bloom & Lather began in the quiet corners of our Connecticut homestead — a place filled with chickens, gardens, soft colors, and the simple joy of making things by hand. But the true beginning of this little soapery started with my son, Beau.

Beau was born with a chronic skin condition that leaves his skin very dry and always in need of gentle, soothing care. From the start, even something as simple as soap had to be chosen with intention. His skin responds best to natural, hydrating ingredients — the kind you can pronounce, the kind that feel comforting instead of overwhelming. As he grew, Beau was also diagnosed with autism, and that added another layer of tenderness to the products we brought into our home. Fragrance‑free or softly scented soaps became essential, helping keep his routine calm and sensory‑friendly.
